This past Saturday I attended a fundraiser for the Scituate Animal Shelter at the Hatherly Country Club here in Scituate . In addition to tasting some delicious wines, enjoying tasty appetizers, and getting out bid on the wood carving class I was hoping to take away from the silent auction, I was able to meet some of the people that make this organization the special place that it is. I learned about the Scituate Animal Shelter and how much time and effort goes into serving the many fury friends that are or have become a part of our community. Without the support of the public this place would not be able to serve the animals that are in need of help and love.
You don’t have to volunteer to give. There are many ways you can give to the animal shelter without having to commit time from your busy schedule. I would have loved to volunteer at the shelter. However, having a fluctuating and sometimes unpredictable schedule I am unable to do so. However, I am able to fulfill some of their wish list items when I do my weekly grocery shopping or attend fundraising events.
The animals need your help. I am not going to start singing you a Sarah McLachlan song or share pictures of abused animals. However, I am going to ask that you consider supporting the Scituate Animal Shelter the next time you open your wallet or open your heart.
Also, if you happen to be one of those people that have more money than you know what to do with and want to feel good about yourself please write a hefty check out to the Scituate Animal Shelter as a way of celebrating a belated Valentine’s Day this week. If you are single I can’t think of a better way to show your love than to do this for yourself. If you aren’t no worries. Just send your loved one a little box with a note saying “In addition to that Valentines Day gift I gave you earlier this week I have donated $1, 000, 000 in your name to the Scituate Animal Shelter as a celebration of our love”. If you are anti-Valentine’s Day that is ok because Saint Paddy’s Day and Easter are right around the corner. Stocks and mutual funds are unpredictable. This investment has a guaranteed return rate of love, kindness, and care.
When there is a will there is a way. What will your way be?

Thank you, Laura, for your kind words about our organization! As a volunteer since 1993, I am very proud of the things we have accomplished over the years, and of the professional organization that grew out of the love and dedication of our outstanding volunteer staff. We are a grass roots organization, and count heavily on the support of the community. From lemonade stands and car washes to matching corporate donations, they've been there for us all the way.
ReplyDeleteAnd my friend Paul Kukstis will be flattered that you wanted to win the carving lessons!
